Monroe County NOW is marching in the parade this 4th of July, and our entry's theme this year is "Symbols of Democracy," centering on the Statue of Liberty and the accompanying poem by Emma Lazarus, The New Colossus," which famously declared "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." We are meeting upstairs at Nick's on Sunday at 4pm to make posters for people to carry, to talk about parade costumes and other details, and to just hang out! We will provide some poster supplies, but if you want to bring any materials from home, they are welcome!
If you want to march in the parade with NOW and haven't let us know already, please email Novella at membershipdirector.mcnow@gmail.com so that we are sure you can get all the information you need (start time, meet-up spot, etc), because we'd love to have you! If you want to dress up as one of the symbol's of America, that's cool too, let us know who you'd like to be so we can strategize.
And if you can make the poster party but not the parade itself, or vice versa, that's ok! We'd love to have you for whatever you can do.
